Integrated Aqua recently completed the design, fabrication, delivery, and commissioning of a containerized kelp nursery system—a specialized solution supporting early-stage kelp propagation and marine research. Designed for flexibility and mobility, the system is housed within a controlled-environment 20-foot container, allowing researchers to cultivate kelp in both warm and cool conditions with precision and reliability.
Constructed with a 100% non-corrosive, fiberglass-reinforced plastic rack system, the nursery is engineered for long-term performance in seawater applications. Its integrated modular recirculating filtration and UV disinfection system ensures exceptional water quality, while the industrial-grade pump system—featuring a saltwater-rated pump and programmable flow rate control—maintains consistent hydraulic conditions essential for kelp development. A precision temperature control system further supports optimal growth across varying seasonal environments, and a specialized LED lighting system provides the ideal spectrum for early-stage kelp propagation.
Pre-engineered using advanced 3D CAD modeling, IAS optimized every aspect of the system’s layout for functionality, accessibility, and efficiency within the compact container space. From concept to commissioning, the IAS team delivered a turnkey, high-performance solution that demonstrates the company’s commitment to advancing marine restoration and aquaculture innovation.
