UBC Aquatic Research Facility Update

In 2011-2012 Integrated Aqua Systems, Inc. (IAS) designed, built, supplied and commissioned the University of British Columbia’s new Aquatic Research Facility. This state-of-the-art facility is the largest of its kind in Western Canada and is also one of the most technologically advanced aquaculture research systems in North America. IAS is proud to have completed the project successfully and the system is now operational with fish stocking beginning early 2013.

Project highlights include:

  • Designed & built 13 recirculating systems for a 99.9% recirculation rate utilizing PermaBead™ filtration systems as the primary mechanical filtration and MicroBead biofilter technology for biological removal of ammonia and CO2.
  • Designed and supplied the effluent treatment system and seawater supply pump systems.
